Harvard astronomy professor Avi Loeb claims to have found new evidence supporting the existence of alien spacecraft. Last June, Loeb retrieved small magnetic spherules from the Pacific Ocean, asserting that these round objects originated from a "watermelon"-sized alien-built technology that collided with Earth in 2014.
During an interview on GBH’s Boston Public Radio on Monday, Loeb discussed the possibility that these spherules were remnants of a voyager-like meteor artificially created by another civilization. His initial findings, shared in a preprint last summer, faced opposition from researchers who suggested the spherules were human-produced coal ash.
In response to the criticism, Loeb released new findings last week, claiming that a comparison of 55 elements from the periodic table in coal ash and the special spherules revealed clear differences.
Loeb emphasized the scientific method as the basis for his work, involving the collection and analysis of materials while following the evidence, rather than opinions. In addressing criticism, he remarked that his "skin turned into titanium."
Loeb gained attention previously when he controversially asserted that ‘Oumuamua, a cigar-shaped interstellar object passing through our solar system in 2017, was created by intelligent aliens. His claim was met with skepticism, with some suggesting it was a comet.
Since then, Loeb founded The Galileo Project at Harvard, using an observatory to continuously scan the sky for extraterrestrial life, employing machine learning for analysis.
Loeb advocates for the construction of more observatories to enhance research on objects passing closer to Earth, asserting that it is crucial for scientists to fulfill their civil duty by determining the nature of these objects.
He emphasizes the vastness of the universe and encourages a shift in perspective, moving away from the notion that humans are the center of intellectual importance. Loeb believes humans should actively search for signs of extraterrestrial life, acknowledging that the universe's enormity suggests the likelihood of other intelligent beings that have existed for much longer than humanity.
Loeb is set to deliver a speech in Poland for the 550th anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus's birth, promoting the idea that humans are not the "center of the intellectual universe."
